I give up. Blog spammers, you win. I surrender.
You know, there is a certain level of hell set aside for you. Right above phone solicitors and below email spammers. Enjoy your company.
You see, if I allow comments, then literally several hundred times a day someone (or group of someones) tries to post spam as a comment on old entries.
You’ll never read them. And they don’t care. They do it to up their Google rankings.
Well, fine.
To get around it, I could update my Moveable Type code, and my MT-Blacklist code. But that would work as well as the levees in New Orleans. Eventually, someone will figure out a way to program around it and the spam will start all over again.
I don’t have time for that.
So, I yield. I will now just use my Live Journal space. They’ll block the spam for me. They’ll keep track of all my entries. They’ll allow for comments from my friends.
I’ll still keep up with my photos here (on the links to the left), as well as my second city journal. But I’ve blocked all comments from my site, and hopefully that will work. If not, I’m going to take my entries down after I figure out how to transfer them to Live Journal.
I hope the two of you who read this will move along with me. I’ve actually been posting for three years now, and I don’t want to stop.
But I will stop taking out the trash.
My next class performance is on Saturday, October 15th at around 3:15 PM. The class shows run from Noon until about 4 PM. It is at the Second City Theater (42705 Grand River Avenue, Novi, MI 48375).
For this show, we’ll perform scenes based on suggestions from the audience. Hopefully we’ll get lots of different styles, times, and locations. So if anyone has any odd suggestions, they will be welcome. You can come if even if you don’t have odd suggestions.
I’m kinda relaxed about this show. I’m comfortable doing scenes, and being given suggestions, and therefore limitations, actually makes it easier in some ways.
Only two more eight week sessions to go.
In recognition of Jeff successfully defending his thesis, there will a
party at Chuck and Elaine's place in his honor on Friday, October
14th, starting at 7:30 PM and going for as long as we like.
As this is a party for Jeff, we will celebrate his ability to grab a
nap anywhere by making the theme of the party 'sleep'. Feel free to
attend in your pajamas or other night clothes. Bring your favorite
blanket or teddy bear. Just remember the party is rated PG and that
Jeff blushes easily.
Food and drink will be available but please feel free to bring extra.
I'll have lots of cheese. Hey, maybe I'll even bake cookies!
At around 10 PM I have something special planned for Jeff, so be sure
to be around during that time. And don't worry, Jeff, it won't hurt at all.
Feel free to tell anyone you feel should know about this party.
(Jeff, again, invite anyone you wish, even if I have never met them before.)
Break a leg, Jeff, and if it is after the defense, then....congrats!
It is a busy week when you wake up and realize that getting six hours of sleep is an improvement.
Serenity was a very good movie. Almost excellent. I had very high hopes going in, and they weren’t dashed. I found myself very excited and tense and happy and sad all throughout the movie.
Go see it. This guy should write and make more movies.
But the movie isn’t the subject of this tale. Last night, when we saw Serenity, was the opening night. I haven’t been to an opening night of a movie in quite a long time. Even better, Elaine and I went out with a whole bunch of our friends.
There were thirteen of us, I believe, sitting in two rows. We talked, cracked jokes, and had lots of fun.
Oddly, half of us had children. Some left them with parents (like us), while others found sitters or friends (thank you Joe and Dana for watching some of them!).
And so, I feel old. Instead of going out afterwards for ice cream like I would have done ten years ago, instead we hung out in the lobby for a few minutes, then said, “Well, time to get our kids.”
We got Marcus and Cassandra, went home, and got them to bed.
Even though I’m old, watching them sleep is a nice bit of serenity on its own.
